Now everything appears to be working as designed. The phone pairs right up as soon as I get in the car. The sound is poor on both ends, though. People I'm speaking with sound like they're speaking through a blown speaker even though I know my speakers are fine. And they all say I sound like I'm in a big, empty tank. Much of that is probably due to the XV6700, which I've found to be a great PDA but a lousy phone.
I found
this neat little app called CicleBT which allows you to turn your BT on or off at the press of a button or a tap on the screen (for PDA phones). I was worried about battery life and security with having my BT on all the time. Now it's just a quick button press to turn it on or off.
