I don't mind iDrive, but it could be more intuitive in some areas. There are some menus, for example, where selecting something does not allow a "back-out" method. I end up pressing the menu button, and starting at the top.
I do find that voice commands are far more pleasurable to use, however. It is also less distracting.
Trade for an '08 diesel? Ouch. The depreciation that a vehicle takes in a first year surely wouldn't justify the savings in fuel.
