Cool I DRIVE is a BIG NEGATIVE

Wife has kept the TOM TOM - even though she has NAVI - hopefully in about 6months she will master the I-DRIVE.
.
Highs:
Handling, Steering Response, Brakes, Tailgate, Pano Roof, BATMOBILE Feel
.
LOWS:
I-drive NAVI, No DipStick, Gas MPG (Wishing Diesel), Access step-in & out (even though I am over 6 feet).
.
Overall impression after 2 weeks of ownership:
A pleasure to drive, difficult to master I-Drive, I am betting we will trade for an 08' diesel.

I have never understood why people think iDrive is hard or a mistake on BMW's parts since almost every new luxury automobile now comes with a "iDrive Scenario". Navi has been a known blow for BMW compared to almost any other vehicle.

I don't mind iDrive, but it could be more intuitive in some areas. There are some menus, for example, where selecting something does not allow a "back-out" method. I end up pressing the menu button, and starting at the top.

I do find that voice commands are far more pleasurable to use, however. It is also less distracting.

Trade for an '08 diesel? Ouch. The depreciation that a vehicle takes in a first year surely wouldn't justify the savings in fuel.

i had no problems figuring out iDrive. its no different than anything else you're not familiar with; it takes sometime figuring things out. we're all not as smart as we think

i'm sure there's a few things in any car you drive that it takes time to get used to or you didn't even know it existed. after a while, you'll be helping others out manuevering around idrive.

idrive has many pros/cons, but i couldn't live with RTTI and wouldn't want to have to go to the dealer everytime I want to change something that only takes 1 min.
