the steroe cannot be run without the key in the ignition unless you have just turned the car off and neither of the front doors have been opened. Even then, I believe you only have power for a number of minutes. This is with or without nav.

The nav system does allow speed adjusted volume. I have not seen it in action yet, but I am sure that the functionality is the same as the non-nav.
