Hey all, It seems I have my second technical issue with my new x5! I threw my purse in the back, strapped my 3 year old daughter into the car seat and walked around to get in, like I've done hundreds of times. The car doors locked somehow and would not open. The car alarm started going off. I immediately flagged down a lady in the parking lot and used her phone to call the dealer who connected me with bmw assist. After two tries and an hour I finally was furious with their futile attempts to release my now horrified and crying daughter. I called 911 and the police arrived just as my husband showed up with a spare key. The remote lock is still not functioning properly (it locks when I touch the handle but does not unlock) and my dealership cannot fit me in for a week. Needless to say, if my daughter is locked in again I am contacting a lawyer.

I wish someone had told me that this had been happening. When I first spoke with bmw assist, they were like "oh, yeah, we've been getting calls like this" Hello! What if it was 100 degrees outside or my girl was a newborn baby? I'm not even sure the police could have gotten it open without breaking the window. Of course I've learned my lesson to never throw my purse in until I'm in the car. But this should have never happened.

Sorry for the long post, but I had to vent! And warn all parents about this possiblility!
