Anything can be done in this world, with the right amount of effort and lnowledge

You 'could' put the MkIV in a non-BMW, but you would need to emulate the IKE (instrument cluster). So you need to program youself a little device (like a PIC) on the ibus to answer and respond to the IKE messages. You could integrate your PIC to the rest of the car.

You will need to tell the nav the date and time, the country code and type of car, and all other data for the on-board computer (limit, range, comsumption etc)

But you need to be a computer software guru to do this, and really keen to make it work.

Anything can be done in this world, with the right amount of effort and lnowledge...........
