There is a firmware version in your IPOD (not the adaptor, which also has a firmware number). You should check that the replacement IPOD (which may be a remanufactured unit) has the latest firmware. This has been connected to interface problems on the Dension. You can read about ithe Ipod firmware, and download it, from the Apple site.

That might do the trick. As I recall, the iPodYourBMW instructions did advise that you must have a certain firmware version. Make sure that is not the problem. If your firmware is the appropriate version, then it might be a bad adapter in which case your dealer can switch that out lickity split. It just plugs into the radio harness via a 6 pin plug and the other end is the white cable that goes to your iPod.
