iPodyourBMW problem.

My iPodyourBMW connection has been acting funny lately. Songs will sometimes skip, and this doesn't happen when I'm using headphones. Also, sometimes if I put it on random playlist, the track numbers will skip around. For instance, it will go from CD -06 to CD -73 or something like that. Also, I've been having issues with it dropping to radio. When this happens, it won't work again until you turn the car off and back on. If I'm on the highway, that's a problem, because I'll have to exit the highway, find a parking lot, turn the car off/on, and then get back on the highway if I want to listen to my iPod. It used to do that maybe once a month, but it started doing it several times a day. This afternoon it dropped to the radio and when I turned it back to the iPod, it said CD9-99. After a few more tries, it stopped working completely. Now I only have radio and CD. Does anyone know what could be causing this? Should I just take it to the dealer? I'd hate to bring it all the way there and lose its use for a day or more just because of something like that.. Do you think it's the iPod or the iPodyourBMW setup? I don't know if it means anything, but this has started happening since I got a new iPod. My old one broke so Apple gave me a new one, and it's been working strangely since then... I just don't see how there would be any difference between them.

CJ,

I dont' know what's causing it, but it is certainly not normal. I have had NO problems with my iPod your BMW connection. Take it to the dealer, I say. Let us know how it works out.

Juan

This is based on a Dension help tip, but it may apply:

There is a firmware version in your IPOD (not the adaptor, which also has a firmware number). You should check that the replacement IPOD (which may be a remanufactured unit) has the latest firmware. This has been connected to interface problems on the Dension. You can read about ithe Ipod firmware, and download it, from the Apple site.

Good luck

That might do the trick. As I recall, the iPodYourBMW instructions did advise that you must have a certain firmware version. Make sure that is not the problem. If your firmware is the appropriate version, then it might be a bad adapter in which case your dealer can switch that out lickity split. It just plugs into the radio harness via a 6 pin plug and the other end is the white cable that goes to your iPod.

There is a communication error between the iPod and the Adapter. Is the plug firmly seated into the iPod? Is it possibly interfering with an iPod skin?

No, it was plugged in normally, and I don't have any sort of protector on the iPod.. It's wierd, because now it's working normally again ....
