Like mD stated above, there are 2 types of extended warranty. There is the extended maint warranty which covers maint items (oil changes, brake pads, brake rotors, windshield wipers) up to 6yrs 100K. Then there is the drive-train extended warranty which covers other items such as the engine. (you need to read the warranty to see specific coverage)

Brakes are replaced only when the brake lining warning light in the dash comes on. This varies with driving style, road conditions, weather, etc. I got my 1st brake lining warning at 79K miles.

Again, If you are going to keep the vehicle for a while I suggest purchasing BOTH warranties.

Prices may vary so get quotes from a few dealerships if possible.
