Unhappy Can't seem to pair? How do I know if I have BT

I’m a new (used) 2004 X5 owner (which I just purchased second hand, still under warrantee); Love the car.
I’m a newbie so forgive me if I need help. I have to say this site is great. I’m very impressed with the community and quickly updated my Nav software because of it.
But I have what appears to be a simple problem that I can’t seem to find “directly” from the site or its references.
I want to pair my New Nokia 6263 t-mobile phone to my 2004 E53 X5. Can’t seem to get into any pairing mode.
I have the MKIV with Navigation and an expired BMW assist. I believe I have Bluetooth because I have the Bluetooth card, however with no PW (passcode). I was going to try 0000 or 1111, but I never got that far. I can’t find any pairing button, and I tried to use the “voice activation” button on the steering wheel and the “phone” button on the Nav console (one second before and 3 seconds after I start the car), but all I get is the BMW’s native Verizon phone operator telling me I don’t have an authorized phone (probably the assist mode). I’m wondering if I even have a Bluetooth module. Help. I know the Nokia can pair; I did it for a New BMW loaner.
Any guidance?
