I’m a new (used) 2004 X5 owner (which I just purchased second hand, still under warrantee); Love the car.
I’m a newbie so forgive me if I need help. I have to say this site is great. I’m very impressed with the community and quickly updated my Nav software because of it. But I have what appears to be a simple problem that I can’t seem to find “directly” from the site or its references. I want to pair my New Nokia 6263 t-mobile phone to my 2004 E53 X5. Can’t seem to get into any pairing mode. I have the MKIV with Navigation and an expired BMW assist. I believe I have Bluetooth because I have the Bluetooth card, however with no PW (passcode). I was going to try 0000 or 1111, but I never got that far. I can’t find any pairing button, and I tried to use the “voice activation” button on the steering wheel and the “phone” button on the Nav console (one second before and 3 seconds after I start the car), but all I get is the BMW’s native Verizon phone operator telling me I don’t have an authorized phone (probably the assist mode). I’m wondering if I even have a Bluetooth module. Help. I know the Nokia can pair; I did it for a New BMW loaner. Any guidance?

Hi and welcome.
The button on the steering whell is NOT a pairing button... Do you have a similar one in the armrest? Have you check if a bluetooth ULF box exists in your trunk (silver metal box, left side, a little below the MKIV unit), with a Bluetooth antenna (black plastic box, above MKIV)? You can see all parts here: http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/all-...03-bmw-x5.html Good luck |

Thanks for the reference. Here is what I found, I found the silver box with the proper cable (looks like the Bluetooth ULF unit - no side lablel)) in the proper place. But no Bluetooth Antenna, at least not above the MKIV DVD.
I followed the ULF unit (?) cable to a antenna (?) of some sort, deeper in side compartment (high over the rear driver's side wheel), but it's too deep to read the label. Any ideas? Thanks |

oh, and no armrest kit and therefore no pairing button in the armrest.

Unforfunately ULF is similar with a TCU (Telematics Control Unit - older unit for pre-installed phones...)
Although I believe you don't have a ULF, the only way should be to partially remove it (or vehicle trim at that place) and check for BMW part number. All ULF can be found here: http://www.bimmernav.com/ulfchanges.html |
