I have to agree it is pretty dumb to quote a single vote out of context and all campaigns do this regularly. McCain voted against the funding bill because it contained language for a timed withdraw which he and many others are against.

Obama voted for the measure with the withdraw language but it seems strange to me that he voted against the subsequent bill for funding without the language. I realize Obama wants a timetable but this bill was modified so it could avoid a veto like the prior bill and contained much needed funding. Obama wants to end the war but cutting off funding is not a very popular way to achieve his goal so I think he deserved some scrutiny here.

That said the McCain sound byte is not very clear and therefore wrong in my opinion.
