You'll have to ask the original installer what he did!!
If the install is non-standard, no-one on this board will have any knowledge of how your ipod interface is wired.

What input is the ipod connected to? Maybe the installer hijacked the TV sound input, maybe he disconnected the TV sound input...

Firstly confirm what interface you have, then research how it should be cabled according to the manufacturer.

Correct, the volume control controls the sound level :-)

Bluetooth is hugely variable depending on what type of phone you are using. Before you look for faults in the BMW system, try with a different make/model phone and see if it is the same.

BMW did make 2 x different microphones, see Best Sellers BMW new version upgraded Microphone for the differences in microphones. Maybe the new model microphone may perform better for you. Try and see.
