Not sure how the courts are where you live.. But if I were you, I would not take the chance of fighting this by yourself.

I faced a Wreckless driving offense myself in NYC a year or 2 ago. I went with a lawyer and it worked out for the best. The Judge agreed to knock it down to a lesser charge but still a driving offense. MY lawyer suggested something else and the Judge accepted it. I walked away paying a fine for a non driving offense and no points on my License.

The thing about courts are, at least here in NYC anyway, you don't really get to explain what happened. The Judge just goes by what the officer wrote on the ticket.
