I've just passed the 90k mile mark on my x5 and have decided to do a cooling system overhaul while i'm not showing any bad signs of overheating or failure.

Does anyone know if the water pump in the 2004 3.0i engine has the original plastic impellar or the updated metal impellar? If metal, would this prolong the life of the pump and extend the suggested replacement interval?
