I have similar probs however mine is also with the door handles as my old girl is an 02 non sport.

For what it's worth, during the washing procedure I use warm to hot water with car shampoo on the areas in question, this seems to 'melt' any wax, polish etc to some degree and makes it easy to clean. I also finish with Mothers.

I'd love to give some Black Wow a try but through all my efforts it can't be bought in Aust. I can buy from Stateside if I want but bit of a hassle.
