My '04 X5 4.4i (75000 miles) is at the dealer (3 weeks as I write this) no worries in that regard they gave me a new 328 AWD to use.
My question is, do all BMW techs and field techs have the info you guys are talking about here? I would think so....
Cold weather start causing misfire codes. First time they had me get new plugs, then they put in injectors, problem still there. I had them review the "levers" service bulletin and was advised my levers are not the ones with the problems..they changed the pollution valve and hoses that have water freezing problems, new battery and have also sent the fuel out to be tested (and it tests fine). Lots of this is covered under my CPO warranty...(thank God)....problem still there...any ideas? Now it seems the dealer waits for the field tech to keep giving them different things to try.
The dealer has two X5's with the same problem and neither they or the BMW field/region technician can seem to get to the root of the problem.
Any thoughts? Can the levers be OK but the shaft bad?
This is freaking me out for keeping the veh long after the CPO warranty expires in a couple of months .
Thanks

Feel free to jump on threads, it's better to keep all the information on one post instead of being broken up into multiple threads. IMHO, I think that factory techs can be invaluable, but our experience can be just as informative while costing lots less. I understand that trained techs are usually the people to go for, but they're trained on everything across the board while at least here, we're only working on our specific vehicle. Not all techs know all the recall, fixes, etc because it's usually the SA's job to know that, and seems at times, SA's don't have a clue either.
I'd push the levers suggestion before they turn your X into a parts testing guinnea pig. Eventually your CPO will expire, and you've already seen how the method they use to go about fixing things.
