The ticking noise problem only affects 3.0l n52/kp engines from SOP to 10/09. And it's cause is from collasped exhaust litters. |

okay so i have an UPDATE:
car has been in service at BMW Morristown for 3 weeks now! After much work and problems (saying it wasnt covered under CPO, they ended up covering it for me). then they lost the bolts to put the car back together so i lost a couple more days waiting on new ones. So, the car is finally done (well almost), they never fixed my headlight washers correctly, so now i need to wait another week for my car to be done! Plus, i cant even drive the loaner car because i'm only 19! ugh. what a pain.. anyway, i'm really anxious to get my car back and see if it feels any different. hopefully It'll all be okay. This has been a long trek, and hopefully i never lose my car for a month again!

DAMNIT. I wish I had a CPO (Certified Parent Owned) BMW!
I wouldn't be so worried about my transmission failing! |

Hi Everyone! I'm going to piggy back on this thread please.
My '04 X5 4.4i (75000 miles) is at the dealer (3 weeks as I write this) no worries in that regard they gave me a new 328 AWD to use. My question is, do all BMW techs and field techs have the info you guys are talking about here? I would think so.... Cold weather start causing misfire codes. First time they had me get new plugs, then they put in injectors, problem still there. I had them review the "levers" service bulletin and was advised my levers are not the ones with the problems..they changed the pollution valve and hoses that have water freezing problems, new battery and have also sent the fuel out to be tested (and it tests fine). Lots of this is covered under my CPO warranty...(thank God)....problem still there...any ideas? Now it seems the dealer waits for the field tech to keep giving them different things to try. The dealer has two X5's with the same problem and neither they or the BMW field/region technician can seem to get to the root of the problem. Any thoughts? Can the levers be OK but the shaft bad? This is freaking me out for keeping the veh long after the CPO warranty expires in a couple of months . Thanks Last edited by svelto916; 01-12-2010 at 08:43 PM. |

Hi Guys,
Is this related to a rotational sqeeking noise on cold starts? OUr has this too, as many do, and we've already had the pulleys done. Ours isn't throwing any codes, but continues to whine on cold morning starts even after the pulleys are done. Thanks and I use JMK on RT22 but am pretty close (20 min) to Morristown too. Good luck with yours. |

I'd push the levers suggestion before they turn your X into a parts testing guinnea pig. Eventually your CPO will expire, and you've already seen how the method they use to go about fixing things.

My X5 problem involves the misfiring on cold mornings. If I turned the car off and restarted it, it would usually go away. The check engine light would flash. The last time I took it in, the light was on and would not go off if I restarted the vehicle.
I don't call and bug them about because I suspect they are busting their butts trying to get it fixed...but now I feel I need to be asking a lot more questions. I spoke with them 3 times in the last 3 weeks and that was when they would call and say they were still trying to figure it out. Hey M5James...nothing like a Vtwin on the track! |
