this is exactly why I self insure whenever I can. always covered, no deductible, and never denied.

so much can be DIY to make it even cheaper and more rewarding. yes, the expensive items can be very costly under this plan, but then again, so if buying a new car. that is why i always buy used 3-5 yrs, and drive them as long as possible...
