If you're going to install a used engine, I'd go ahead and replace all the gaskets (valve cover, oil pan...you're going to have to do this anyway, since the oil pan will be different, rear main seal) and the f#$#ing oil separator valve too. Easier to do maintenance with the engine out of the vehicle.

BMWNA doesn't exist in Canada. Don't take no for an answer. Why did it spin a rod? Oil starvation? Improper oil services? Or Manufacturing defect.
