SM said after x drive model (2004 I think) they should take care of steering sensor during the alignment hooking up to their bmw maintenece computer so only dealership can handle the alignment properly. and $80 shop said they will not put weight on seats and cargo area. but the SM said it is necessary to put some 130lb on the drive seat and some weight on cargo as well for accurate alignment. so I am considering to pay 220. sorry for confusion SA said they charge 280 and SM 220. so 220 should be. expensive but much better than bad alignment, you know tire is much more expensive.
