I haven't seen that before, but others may have.

Unless it is a known issue, this type of thing depends very much on your relationship with your dealer.

I had a broken speaker grill in the X5 just after it was new, LR door kick panel. I also have kids. When I was in for service I showed it to the service advisor, and asked him to fix it. I expected to pay for that. When I came back to pick it up I asked, and he said that yeah, the kids probably kicked it in, it definitely wasn't warranty, but that it was a new car so they wanted to take care of me. Their dime. Good guys. Never hurts to give them a chance to surprise you.
