Some things I can see getting it that way, but this particular item was a Cannon DSLR zoom lens for her camera. Not exactly the kind of item you want just shipped loose.

It's funny you mention that. I hadn't though about but I think that most of the things that I've bought from NewEgg have been shipped in the retail boxes. I can understand that for the two 26" monitors that I received last week and a printer that I received last month, but I received a hard drive in the retail box. RAM was packaged separately.
Most of my shopping is from Amazon though so it's good they package everything -- as most of those are gifts now. My family would love to know what's in those boxes...
