No special tools that I can remember. I used the little plactic pry bars here there. But the only thing I remember I needed was patiences and don't try to skips steps you everything has a order to come apart. Also be careful when doing the airbag area there are a couple of connector cables you have to disconnect and you do not want to break them or you will have to replace the cable. It's really not that difficult of a job.
