My wife's '03 4.4i (Jun-03 build date) just got new front rotors and pads after only 17K miles. "Check Brake Linings" warning message came on. Dealer replaced under warranty at no cost and with no drama.

But only 17K miles on a set of rotors and pads? Anyone have a similar experience? I think she's heavy on the gas and heavy on the binders plus she drives nearly all city miles. I've heard of this happening with Suburbans but not the X5.

Mpg is also poor at 13.2 around town with $2.70/gal for premium in LA, thank you very much . Driving style maybe?? Any thoughts?
