PersonaNonGrata is on a distinguished road
I have had to endure non-hockey people taunting me about Vancouver losing and the riots. That's what you get for being a Canucks fan in America. Anyway, it's just disgusting. I watched the live news feed from CTV for 3 hours, just appalled at what was going on. I was downtown in '94 when the riots started. I got the H outta there when the vibe turned ugly. This riot was indeed a different animal.

It's just as JCL stated. Those "anarchists" and a handful of knuckleheads have managed to cast a terrible shadow over a great city. Watching carefully, one can see these anarchists JCL writes of. I thought to myself, "who brings a crow bar to a hockey game viewing???". Those people and the others who defied the police and any sense of civility or respect deserved to be beaten. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing them being smacked by baton blows. (Yes, I acknowledge the contradiction in my enjoyment and my call for civility.)

It is heartening to see so many decent people speaking out today and many last night who tried to resist and protect stores. There was one live scene of masked individuals inside The Hudson's Bay Company store holding fire extinguishers. The windows had been smashed and it apeared that they might be looters but it turned out in later video that they were trying to deter looters by spraying them with chemical fire extinguishers. A middle aged man spoke to a reporter and told of a virtual human chain forming to try to block looters from entering Sear's. Maybe there is still hope for humanity.
