Wow, just wow. I am a die-hard Canucks fan and I am just stunned at how poorly they played. The only Canuck who showed any desire to win was Ryan Kesler. Every other guy in a blue sweater tonight was totally lame. Luongo will never live down both his terrible performances but also his running of his mouth. It's too bad because he is a very good goalie but this letdown will be an albatross around his neck forever. The Canucks had about 10 minutes of decent play but then - nothing. It is truly disappointing that such a good team went out without really putting up a fight.

That's not to take anything away from Boston. I believe that the Canucks were a better team on paper but the Bruins had more heart, more fight, and more will to win. That's pure and simple why Boston won. So, the better team won. It's killing me as a lifelong fan who went through '82 and '94. Such a good team that should have won it all just gave up.

What's more disgusting is the garbage going on in Vancouver right now. I am watching the live news covering the riots. It is truly despicable. A small group of people were there just to incite violence. After such a successful Winter Olympics that showed the world how great the city is, these knuckleheads are embarrassing Vancouver. My disgust at this behavior is actually overshadowing my disgust of the Canucks poor outing.

Please do not judge Vancouver on the images you might see from these riots. It's not what Vancouver is about nor is it what true Canucks fans are like.

Congratulations to Boston. It was a hard fought series.

All discussion of the series here has been taken over by the riot. 100,000 fans in the street, many drunk (although all liquor stores in the downtown closed at 4 pm), but also a small group of anarchists. All the families left quickly, but a core group stayed to watch, and that was all the stage they needed. They had black facemasks and were equipped with Molotov cocktails. They would have done this win or lose, they are not hockey fans, but it is a sad day none the less.

What I found interesting were two Facebook sites. One is organizing a cleanup, for those who are disgusted with what happened. Another is to upload photos of any rioters, and tag them, for law enforcement. Seems the local PD has figured out social media, good for them.

Anyway, it is all a sad distraction. Congratulations again to Boston. Next year!

Sad Indeed. But as I understand it this has happened before.

Last riots here were related to the WTO. Same group of anarchists (the Black Bloc?) tried at the Olympics but the RCMP had planted informants, and they were largely arrested without getting much of it off the ground.

Who goes to a hockey viewing party with a black bandana, gas mask and molotov cocktail, FFS? Nothing to do with hockey.

5000 citizens joined the Facebook-organized cleanup to take the city back.

Seemed like the best place to put this. Short clip of the night, courtesy of the Vancouver Police Department. Couldn't have happened to a more deserving person (OK, they could have done it more than once, that would have been great). It was originally reported to be tear gas, then revised to be a flash-bang. Not sure which one would be worse to receive in this way.

I have had to endure non-hockey people taunting me about Vancouver losing and the riots. That's what you get for being a Canucks fan in America. Anyway, it's just disgusting. I watched the live news feed from CTV for 3 hours, just appalled at what was going on. I was downtown in '94 when the riots started. I got the H outta there when the vibe turned ugly. This riot was indeed a different animal.

It's just as JCL stated. Those "anarchists" and a handful of knuckleheads have managed to cast a terrible shadow over a great city. Watching carefully, one can see these anarchists JCL writes of. I thought to myself, "who brings a crow bar to a hockey game viewing???". Those people and the others who defied the police and any sense of civility or respect deserved to be beaten. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing them being smacked by baton blows. (Yes, I acknowledge the contradiction in my enjoyment and my call for civility.)

It is heartening to see so many decent people speaking out today and many last night who tried to resist and protect stores. There was one live scene of masked individuals inside The Hudson's Bay Company store holding fire extinguishers. The windows had been smashed and it apeared that they might be looters but it turned out in later video that they were trying to deter looters by spraying them with chemical fire extinguishers. A middle aged man spoke to a reporter and told of a virtual human chain forming to try to block looters from entering Sear's. Maybe there is still hope for humanity.

Jeeshhh...glad I missed that stuff, and we were a half week out of Van.
I am surprised; it seemed like the epitome of the kinder, gentler, more
tolerant CDA that I am used to.

I was torn on my rooting, as I grew up watching the BBs, along with the other
orig 6. Didn't see any of it, other than snippets of highlights here in the wild
northwest waters via very bad and sparse boat sat 'tv'.
