Mustard Colored 'Goop' Around Oil Cap?

So our X5 just turned 100K miles, and it was due for an oil change. It was cold, so I took it to the dealer, purchased a BMW filter there, and took 8 quarts of Mobil 0w40 (Been using this for 50K miles or so).

I ask for the oil containers back, because they are always in a hurry and leave a bit behind, so I went to add the half of quart from the empty bottles back in a few days later, and found this nasty mustard colored 'goop' all around the oil cap opening, and covering the bottom of the oil cap.

Anyone ever seen anything like this, or is in indicative of something with the BMW straight six?
