I've heard that MkIV is quite hard to brick by programming (unlike some older models, MKIII I guess). I would start by disconnecting battery for an extended period (like 1 hour) and trying again. You may need to try different SW version in the middle since you cannot program the same SW version that's already installed. Partial install may be recognized as updated already.
