Scenario: Key fob is in purse which I throw in front passenger seat (or rear). As soon as I close the door, the vehicle 'locks down' WITH THE FOB INSIDE! Once, after I buckled my toddler into his car seat and closed his door to open driver side, the SAV locked itself. I freaked out but good thing we were just in our garage so I ran back inside the house to retrieve my spare key to unlock the car. On extremely hot days, with my son inside and we are elsewhere but home, it can be VERY bad... Shouldn't the vehicle sense that the keys are inside the car? These 'ghost locking' incidents happen sporadically. With my luck, I won't be able to replicate at dealership. What is happening?
Nowadays, I consciously keep driver side door open until I am literally in the car. WHAT TO DO? I've read somewhere that this a CA issue. PLEASE HELP!
