The owner reports the car drives great, but I'm not very confident it drives at all, because the owner used the M62 oil pan on S62 which is very risky because of very different lubrication system. I personally would never start the S62 with M62 oil pump and I also have no idea how he coupled the Double-VANOS lubrication with M62s oil supply.

I would suspect a front end damage to the car - facelifted front requires new front fenders and the hood, the bumper is not a big deal as it can be replaced in normal course of ownership... the front end damage theory goes well with replacement of the M62B46 engine, which is a potent engine to begin with and removal of the front wheel drive portion of the X...
Unless the owner is able to provide pictures of the changeover which clearly show intact 4.6iS converted into the X5"M5" where the car is not damaged, my theory would stand at 85%(or 90%) validity...
