They probably had to design their replacement to fit the OE BMW air strut assembly, so I don't know if its Arnott's fault.
Regardless, this is why I bought the remanufactured air struts when I replaced mine, so I had the new bags installed already and it was just unbolt, unclip, drop out and swap new ones in, and send those m'fing cores back to Arnott. No worries about improper install of the new bags on the used struts, etc.
