Engine Idle RPMs
I've noticed that my engine’s RPMs are a little sporadic whether at a stop in gear or in Park. According to my OBDII adaptor and application the RPMs seem to bounce from as low as 570 up to 620 RPMs.
You can feel the vibration in your seat when it dips and the RPM dial just moves down slightly below the one tick mark.
This is not happening all the time, but more frequently now. It is certainly increased in the slight temperature drop. I can’t believe that would be the cause (low 60’s F).
While driving it‘s nice and smooth and gets normal fuel consumption.
What are the normal expected RPMs at idle?
Could this be a vacuum line leak?
Oil level and coolant level are good; I check them both every other day as I do have a very small oil leak and a pin-hole leak somewhere in the radiator (the plastic part). I don’t think those are related to the RPM issue, however I’m not a BMW engine expert by any means.
Any questions are welcome and I appreciate any input from you all.
-Thanks.
-Tom
