FWIW, when I upgraged my 15" wheels on my E36 to then-big 17" wheels, I went with what BMW was spec'ing on the E36 M3 which was 235/45-17. I figured that if BMW was using that as OEM then it ought to be good enough for me. What's funny is to think back to those days and being at my favorite Euro speed shop and all us going "wow" over the guy who fit 18" wheels on his E36 M3. "Those are HUGE!"

Now even BMW offers 19" wheels as an OEM option on the M3. Incidentally, that shop used to be the N.A. distributor for Brabus until Brabus realized that they should open their own facility, which they did open in Newport Beach.
CJ: In 17", as Breyton said, there are tons of choices and luckily for you, prices are very reasonable.
