We're all modding our headlights... what about tails!

Anyone speak Russian?

I'm guessing it's done with some type of EL - but don't know much about the properties of it, and if you can cut and shape it?

Ok that is awesome. A total update that stays true to the BMW design (L shaped rear lights). I want!

he doesn't say nothing about how he did it. he just say that for the molding he used pvc, acrylic Plexiglas... on the video above says that its a/c. so it wood required a converter...hmm. i do like how it looks but, looking at the pictures of the guy it looks like the brake light wold not be seen because of the Plexiglas molding .

You can get the EL with 12v inverters as well as 120.

Not sure about the brake light visibility and how it interacts with the EL. Also I'd be curious to know how bright that is in the daylight. No sense doing all of that if it's not DL visible.

As I said, it's interesting, and props to the guy... but I'd need a lot more details and end result pics and videos before making that kind of time/effort commitment.

Edit: Just read the google translator and saw that he is utilizing LED and the film to spread the LED light uniformly. Now I'm not sure it uses EL at all. You do see some hot spotting in the pics as well. If it is LED at least the daylight visibility could be fine. Again though, not sure... I think there is a reason the pictures are all in a dimly lit garage.

He talks about using LED lighting directed down fibre optic feeds - you can see the white fibres optic lines in some of the images. This isn't EL at all, as has already been stated, but optical path distributed LED lighting.

Very cool though, and very good workmanship!

*edit* on second viewing, what I though were fibres look to be wires. He talks about fibres in the text though - maybe it's a little lost in translation!
