no, because i am that person who looks up to tiny detail, i wanted to PAINT them in matte black, and lower window trim on driver's doors lifted up a bit on the spot right above the door handle and i want to fix that also while repainting by refitting it....i am murdering out car that is why i want to do everything good and by the book so it looks on something, not on circus

if you want it done right then yes the glass and frame should be removed. If you want it done half-assedly then mask it up prep and paint.

I am into the details such as yourself and on my X two of my B & C pillar moldings have scratches on them that I must replace since I am having the entire vehicle repainted. It will just not look right if I do not fix these moldings and the kicker is I have to dismantle both doors to access and change them. But its got to be done right. Someone suggested having them wrapped rather than replaced and I just cringed listening to the suggestion. I am getting the headliner redone next month and ultra-suede is going back in vs the cloth fabric it came with. Its got to look proper.

I agree, thing is, where i live (communist republic of croatia) car spray shops charge tons of money for car painting, because expensive material and over expensive labor alongside with chamber....i think it would be the best thing to dismantle that by myself with help of my friend and then bring that to car spray shop...also that trim above rear licence plate, how hard it is to remove? Are there any DIY articles or videos ab doing all these i have asked?

P.s. I am also going to change headliner in black...i am murdering out my X...i just don't understand why first owner didn't get all black trim in first place, but he had to show off his swag with silver trim lol

What you might want to do is find a donor set of molding from the junk yard remove them and bring it to the painter to have it done. That way you do not have to dismantle the door, leave your vehicle hanging, and wait for the body shop to put it all back together. I would dismantle the door yourself if you are mechanically inclined. You'll definitely save some money this way.

Removing the window trims involves a lot of work but it can be a DIY job. Here's a thread to give you an idea-- http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...ndow-trim.html
