tow bar
i have read the posts from people who DIYed it but it seems that they had to remove the bumber (and they all used NA cars). when i was choosing the options for my 3.0D (UK version), the OD said that the tow bar is easy to add and i just have to screw the tow ball in (which they said i can purchase at any time). they never mentioned anything about removing the bumber. the only case when i would need the car to be taken in, is when the electrics have to be added (if one needs that). so is there a difference between NA and UK models? thanks in advance Last edited by apetrov1x5; 02-03-2006 at 11:45 AM. |

I am also interested in fitting a tow bar to my 09/2005 x5 but as I understand it I have to fit the 'Hidden' or 'chassis mount' first before I can then add the actual tow ball (or swan neck). This might entail removing the bumper to get to the back of the chassis.
Is there a connector for the electrics inder the back? John |

The ball goes in after the hitch is installed. There is a special BMW harness that should be purchased to use for the electonic/eletrical system for towing. Everything you need is in the article. |
