Unhappy X5 4.6 How to remove valve cover

I was toping up my oil level and a liitle plastic cap from the funnel fell inside the engine . I can see the plastic cap but i cant get it with anything, the only option left is to remove valve cover, Can anybody tell me how to remove it and also i need tourqe specs for valve cover bolts. Thanks

If you can see the cap then chances are good that you can remove it.
Before you take off the valve cover why don't you go to the hardware store and buy some long and very thin needle-nose pliers. The right pliers can reach into very small places. Just be careful not to nick anything in there with the tool.

For less than 10 bucks and 10 minutes you will end up with a nice new tool and won't have to spend 2 hours removing and reinstalling the valve cover.

I tried almost everything, with a vacuum did not work, with a sharp long stick still did not work, but i will try your way tomorrow, hopefully they have some tiny nose plyers because its very tide in there. Thanks for answering

There is a tool that us stereo installers use for that type of thing.(recovering dropped screws and bolts)
Its a metal tube about the thickness of a pen with a claw on the end that is operated from the other end buy a spring.
You should be able to get it from a Canadian Tire.

In case the local auto store doesn't stock it, that item is also sold in most computer stores as part of computer tool kits. Same use, though it's only about 8". Whole kit shouldn't be more than $12 or so.
