I have listed my X5 for sale, about a week ago, now I am getting phone calls from finance companies(Canada, and USA) they are claiming that they will find a buyer for my X5 in week, and the buyer will pay more than what the X5 is listed for!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, but I have to pay upfront fee before thay can refer a potential buyer.

I traced those phone calls, by using switchboard, those calls originated from alberta Canada, and Washington stae USA.

I think when a finance company call and offer a higher price, with upfront fee???!!!!!!!!

I've heard of this before and I think it's legit, but I have no idea what their track record is...

Sounds like a version of the "I'll send you a check for more than you are asking and all you do is send the difference plus the vehicle to me" SCAM.
If they do not have an address near you where you can meet eyeball to eyeball I would be very wary. Everybody and his brother is working a scam these days.

it's a scam, don't fall for it.

I recently sold a 1998 acura integra and it was posted in our local auto trader. within 2 days i received a call from a company called canadian auto finder. They will draw you in with promises of getting exactly what you're asking price is or more, for a $150 cnd fee.

The short story...i fell for it, gave them my info and what not. They also have a website www.canadianautofinder.com, which is always down. You will never see your car online, and you will never receive a call from anyone trying to purchase your vehicle from their website. Their caller will even tell you to call him on a direct line and not what you see on their website.

After a few days of no returned calls, they did finally call me back but still empty promises and lies, and my car was never posted on their site.

I immediately called my CC company and charge it back to them.

it's a scam, and unless the company can prove otherwise don't fall for it.

a scam was my first thoght, espiciall both caller have an accent with there english.

a finance company apply the fee to the lawn amount when the purchase is completed.

it is like the credit card companies who call offering a credit card with upfront frr for the application.

why a canadian finance compant will call to sell a car in the USA, also both caller were impolite when I refuused the offer.
