Retro fit Wheel Arches and Running Board Help Needed Please

Alright I have searched this topic for a week and still can not find my answer. What are the parts that are needed to retrofit wheel arches and running boards? If I add running boards to my current set up without flares can I add flares later or do I need to do everything at once, hense different parts?

Nobody knows the answer? Just a basic Retro fit wheel arch question and running board 4.6 style. Am I posting in the wrong section? BWM parts dept is no help so I figured I would ask here

Here is the schematic for the running boards (same for 4.4 or 4.6):

If you want to add the flared wheel arches you will need to purchase number 5.

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...52&hg=51&fg=95

You could mount the running boards now and later buy the flared arches. In addition to the flared arches you would need to purchase the "bumper suports" (bad name, they are wheel trim not actual supports) number 2:

To mount those you would either need to cut holes in your bumper to fit the mounting tabs or cut off the mounting tabs and glue the bumper supports on.

Good luck!!!

Awesome thank you for the help. It is so hard to order stuff from BMW parts Department when they don't know the answers.
Question though, for the running boards on first option it states that this will not work with 20 inch wheels? Also in Morris town's ebay special they state that there running boards will now work with Wheel arches, so I guess I am confussed? I assume you are telling me it is alright and cost effective to put on running boards first then I can add wheel arches at a later date without having to get different running boards

They are correct. The running boards will not work with the stock 4.6 wheel flares. If you had a 4.6 you would have to buy the running board wheel flares.

If you buy the running boards and later decide to buy the flares you will have to buy the ones that go with the running boards not the stock wheel flares.

They may say they will not work with 20's because the 20's would be wider than the smaller rims. I have not heard of anyone thinking that the running boards do not look good with the 20's. I would ignore them saying that they do not work w/ 20's.

Yes you can absolutley buy the running boards now and if you want the flares buy them at a future date.

so to avoid double costs, it is better to buy in this order, the 4.6 is kit, then running boards, then wheel arches and substitute part #5?
