Question Aero Kit quote from dealer

Aero Kit has been discussed a lot but has any one received an Aero Kit quote from a dealer (including painting and installation)? My dealer said about $3,000 so I told them that they need to come up with a better number than that...

This guy on eBay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...ME:X:AAQ:US:11 sells it painted (in Germany) and shipped for $2,150. Then one still has to get it installed...

Sounds like you got a VERY good deal to get it for only $2K

Thanks

Your kidding right Brian? You can buy the aero kit from Morristown BMW (Our sponsor) for $890 INCLUDING shipping. Then just take it to a reputable BMW authorized body shop for paint and install, which I'm guessing you could get for ~$500 to $600.

That one on ebay says "includes trailer hitch cover" . The aero kit is NOT MADE for E70's with the trailer hitch!!! So you are paying them OVER $1,000 just to paint it for you .

I was talking about the dealer installed price being a good one for $2K. Maybe that's not so good.
The eBay one is not a good deal; I was using that for comparison. And as far as the "trailer hitch cover" is concerned, I think people are misunderstanding that (as I did originally). The Areo Kit has a "cover for towing hitch" which I assume is how the X5 is towed --- as opposed to a "cover for trailer hitch".

Ask them, but doubtful, since that is their Wholesale price.

My bad. I still think $2k is way too high. To the best of my knowledge, the intall will only involve drilling a few holes, and gluing into place using a urethane windshield adhesive. Good point on the "towing hitch" observation . With that said, I believe that the "towing hook attach points" are located at the upper edges of the bumbers on the front and the back, and do not interfere with the aero kit placement. I believe the square cutouts in the pic below are the "attach" points for the rear.

The Euro towing hitch comes from under the car. The Aerokit has a part that covers up the hole where you click the tow hook in(under the bumper). This cover is all the way under the car and almost not visible. When using the tow hitch, you can remove this cover and install the towhook without taking off the complete aerokit.

Hope this clearify things.
