S54 e53

Has anyone out there completed an s54 swap into a m54 3.0 x5? The only problem I forsee is the oil pan/lubricaiton sytem. Comments?

as the owner of an s54 z3 I think of would be a terrible match. It is a high rpm motor with not a lot of low rpm torque, and requires more maintenance then the 3.0 you are pulling out. Also mating it with the auto tranny will be no easy task.

I don't think the auto would be able to handle it since it revs so high and makes a lot more power than that 5spd is designed for

s54 swap

Oh, I dont have a automatic. And I would likely swap in a 6 speed. The sport package has appropiate gearing in the diffs. Torque shouldnt be an issue. I'm more curious if its possible to swap oil pans.

it just doesn't make sense to put a high revving motor with a very late torque band into a heavy SUV, you need torque and because of this a 4.4 x5 will probably still outrun a s54 powered X5, meaning your huge investment is completely useless.

Does any one have any thing usefull to add? This thread isn't referring to opinions its in regard to the possibility. Cant be sure till you try. Reading someones experience is interesting.Its the same as asking if any one did a s62 swap.Curiousity, thats all.

m54 300nm@3500 rpm, s54 365nm@4900 rpm.
