I did, but I have already purchased the IceLink plus, and will loose my input and song information.

t you're referring to here. Per AC, the LC8 is only an LC6 with two more channels, summing internal, and a different auto turn on circuit. I'd WAY go the bypass route before I'd use an LC8, man. Any questions, email el_duderino at avincar dot com or call the shop tomorrow (number's on our website).

My input is on a special coax cable into the DSP amp

Well, take it out : )
The Icelink can work without it. It has analog audio out, man. Ask Tom how... There's nothing special about that cable. And it introduces an additional two layers of A/D and D/A conversion that is un-needed. On top of that, the amp adds distortion too Why pay MORE for parts so you can have worse sound? At least consider it, seriously.

What about the NAV audio, and the telephone. Don't they all come through the amp??

I think the last page of that thread I posted covers that. If I remember correctly, you can move all that. Much cleaner/easier install. That's the route I'm taking when I have time again to work on it....

audio control lc8
[QUOTE=el_duderino]Negative, Ghost Rider. We have an Icelink in this car as we speak. Not sure wha
t you're referring to here. QUOTE] So elduderino what you are saying is that eventhough I have an 01 X5 with dsp (coax cable connection) you can get it to work with the icelink plus without paying extra $70 for the dsp kit if you bypass the dsp amp. if so how? Thanks Last edited by silkster; 10-11-2005 at 02:44 PM. Reason: TYPO |

Well, the CD changer cable the Icelink plugs into carries analog audio to the Tuner Module.
The Tuner Module doesn't use this CD audio because it's in DSP mode (in YOUR car). In the 2005 no coax is used at all, and the DSP amp works with analog audio signals from ALL the sources, including the CDC. The DSP amp has an A/D converter inside it to work with the analog radio signals, so the CDC signals are just routed in there too. (I guess BMW figgered out that it sounded lousy either way ![]() So, if you unplug the Tuner Module, and then remove the DSP amp, and then re-connect the Tuner Module after like 5 minutes or so, the Tuner Module comes up in NON-DSP mode, and accepts CDC analog audio no problem. And since the Icelink emulates the CDC, it will now work fine without the coax cable or the D/A converter.
