Staggerd Wheels on X5

Hello everybody I love this site!! I have a 2005 X5 I installed a set of bmw wheels style 63 staggerd 10 back 9 front. My tire pressure light keeps coming on. The first time my tires where low 3 of them, 1 rim and tire is brand new which is on the front right the rest where used. Would that cause my problem? or do I have a slow leak in one of the wheels. Thanks SIGNMARK

Yeah, double-check and make sure all the tires have even pressure. The TPMS on the X I believe is based on the monitoring wheel rotation not actually monitoring the tire pressure. So, that means if it keeps happening one or more of your tires are more than likely losing pressure for some reason.

Leaks could be from a bad bead, bad valve stem, small puncture, etc.

you drivers handbook should explain proceedure for re-calibrating tire pressure monitors .

i think you might find info on homepage links, worth a look .twinspoppa is correct about wheel rotation , the system reads wheel speed sensors so if a tyre has low pressure it will have a smaller effective circumference so will rotate slightly faster than the others so try to find proceedure to re-set monitors ,i think it involves holding button in for a few seconds then drive a few miles at various speeds and turning corners left and right then light on switch should go out .

Staggard wheels on x5

Hello again everybody. Would the problem with the light coming on be because i installed 1 brand new tire on the front right side and the rest our the older tires. The tires psi was all about the same 37lbs I pressed the button on the flat tire display and the light went out but did this same thing before and the light came on again. where do i find the reset calibration or is that flat tire button it. Thanks to everyone for your help!!! SIGNMARK [email protected]

I would imagine if the rolling diameters of the 3 old tires are significantly different from the new tires - yes, I think it would come on and be the cause. Do the reset and see what happens.

You should not replace only one tire. You should replace either all or in pairs - front or rear pairs.
