Side/Top-View Camera

I did too. My (limited) understanding was that there was only a 'handful' of the actual supply-quantity...If any X5's received it (as mine appears to) then they got in 'under the wire' before supply ran out.

I already tried.

I also tried to get it painted Imola Red...Even sent a letter to the Chairman of BMW NA...He politely responded that South Carolina no longer paints any cars Imola Red...All the M Coupes/M Roadsters & e53's that had that paint code as an option are long gone...

Inacal, where does it say you are getting the side-view camera? All I see in the build is the rear camera w/ top view (3AH) in the build sheet. The side-view was removed from the tech package and made into a stand alone option (5DK). If you wanted to get the side-view, you needed to delay your production until October.

From the bulletin:

We have been informed by the factory that they are experiencing supplier restrictions regarding options 5DK (Side-view camera) and 5DL (Side and Top View Cameras). These options were included in ZDA (Driver Assistance Package), ZTP (Technology Package) and ZCE (Camera Package).

Accordingly, I should ONLY be getting the rear view camera (if any camera at all). By inference, I can conclude that my X is getting the additional cameras by what I'm reading on the build sheet: Rear View Camera WITH Top View....Now, how this relates to 'side' view, I cannot say.

Ok gotcha, I thought from your post that you were getting -both- 5DK (side-view cameras, one on each side of the the front bumper) and 3AH (rear view camera with top view) options. The 5DL option is actually one camera each in the side view mirrors that use software to created the illusion of top view in conjunction with the standard rear camera to make the 3AH option. I'm sure they wanted to prioritize that rear camera with top view option. I went through this process with my CA and eventually decided to not hold up my early production build (April) that included the side-view camera (5DK). I delayed it to June thinking they might be able to include the side-view, instead they moved it originally from May production back to June, and then finally October. I couldn't wait that long, so instead opted out of the side-view.

You definitely should take pics and post them, first person I've seen on these forums that actually has a very progressed build.

I think that the cameras in the front bumper are delayed until October and that any packages that included those cameras deleted them only from the package and at the same time, the side view as a stand alone is delayed. My understanding is that the rear view plus top view (side view mirror cameras) is still available.

The Canadian order guide says that restrictions on top view has been lifted.

Here's another interesting issue: I specified that I wanted the 20" style 214 wheels...I was told they were (still) unavailable on the diesel/3.5 turbo unless you purchased them over the parts counter $,$$$. Well guess what? They very next day, they appeared as an option for $995...I pulled the trigger.

The only option I didn't select was the rear entertainment system. I have it now on my 2008 3.0si and am not a fan of it...It is just ASKING to be kicked by one of the kids in the rear car seats (we have three car seats in the second row). It is also ungainly/unsightly were it is. Instead, I'm going for the over-the-counter seatback/headrest monitors from the parts department ($2,400 or so). It just looks cleaner in my opinion.
