First road trip with the X5 4.4--19mpg!!
It's possible that this vehicle may dethrone my Land Cruiser as the long range vehicle of choice now.

We owned a LC. It got 10-12mpg average city, 14mpg highway and did 0-60 in about a minute! Didn't stop worth a crap, but was very comfortable and was never in the shop other than normal maintainance and one of the most reliable cars we've ever owned. Our 4.4 gets around 19-20 highway doing about 75-80.

The ease of driving the X5 was very nice for this trip however. I may be addicted now. The gas mileage is a nice side benefit.

ya - I get 18-19 on the highway with my 4.6is, which is better than the EPA rating of 16 or 17, something like that. Although if I don't need the space I now take the G37 sedan - it gets a solid 27mpg on the highway!!

18-19 for me according to the onboard complicator. I know its a bit off by doing the math, but its consistant. Wife took it on a 1000mi round trip and it came back at 20.5. Hmmmm. Me thinks we have different driving styles.

I avg 16.4mpg w m 2003 4.4i, i drive 7 miles to work and can only go about 55mph, all stop and go, and i accelerate rather hard, so not too bad. My 05 sienna gets 19mpg and we do long drives with it...

I took a trip a couple of weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised to get around 21-22 mpg. Driving around the city, with a lot of stop and go, I usually get around 16-17 mpg.

My 4.8 average 19.7 at avg 43.6 MPH
I have been using the computer as well as checking it by gallons vs. miles driven. HWY I am averaging 23.3 and city is consistently 17.4.
I am pleased with my X5 immensely! Having the power of the 4.8 ROCKS! I love driving it! I don't care if gas goes back to $4, I will still enjoy it, I have never had any of my SUVs get better than 15 avg. Hell my LR got great gas mileage, when it was in the shop that is, which was all the time!
