Problem with black molding on 2004 X5.

My 2004 X5 has black trim around all the windows, and i have a problem when i go through the car wash.

So the black trim around the window will be fine before a car wash, and as soon as i dry it up (using sheep skin, but thats not whats causing this) i get a kind of "Oil in water" effect.. There will be a picture demonstrating it. It wont seem to wipe off or anything, does anyone know what i can do? I read somewhere that polish works, but i dont have a buffer, so i dont know how well that would work.

Thanks - Turks4.4

Seems there is just too much pollution on your trim. Yes a polish will get it off and bring back the shine but without a polisher its a hell of a lot more work than I would do. I've been told that 'Back to Black' works well too. I only use that on the black plastics around the bottom of the car.

the chemicals in drive thru car washes are extremely harsh, let alone the power and scraping that the brushes do. have your X hand washed, it is cheap and easy, and will be better for your ride.

i dont think back to black on that trim as it is polished. You can just use polish without a buffer, something pretty coarse like meguiars ultra cut, followed by a lot less coarse polish and wax. It should buff right out

I have bought n used this Meguiars #9 and worked awesome. Just put on with a lintfree and let it get hazy, then whipe it off with another towel.
