E53 AUX Cable Question
I've gone ahead and made myself a cable for the auxiliary input to my nav system, however I was wondering if i can substitute the 300K ohm resister for a 220k or a regular 300? i'd like someones opinion before i test it out and probably damage something, lol

I made a cable myself and didn't put any of the resistors in. I hasn't damaged anything so far. One problem that I think is associated with not using the resistors is that when I go to charge whatever device I'm listening to, it kicks it out of Aux mode. Hopefully that helps...

I actually came across a thread where a user connected 3x100k resistors in a series. will try if that works, do you know the pinout for the AUX connector inside the dash? The 3 pin female connector, i'd like to know which one is Left, Right, and GND. thanks!

If you look towards the bottom of the PDF it shows which channel plugs into which pin. It worked for me other than the problems I stated above. That was on a non-Nav radio though...

thanks for the replies everyone. so i've gone ahead and made the cable and want to proceed with the install, my question is is there any other method of removing the nav unit without pulling the fuses? would pulling the fuses while the car is on be safe?

open the trunk, wait for 20 minutes (ignition off) for car to go to sleep, then unplug the cable from nav... or pull a fuse before pulling cables... important thing is to make sure car is asleep...

Gave it a shot and the AUX screen shows up, but no audio? i wonder if it could be my wiring, all i did was just connect it and try to play music, didn't mess around with any settings..

Well, first things first. Check all of your audio setting (including volume on the phone). Next, just the input volume for the Aux. It should be adjustable by hitting the audio/settings/etc button (sorry, don't have nav, but whatever butting you use to adjust the bass/trebble/etc). I could be wrong, but if it recognizes the aux, you should have it wired up correctly...

Well i got the aux working correctly finally! I have it routed to the glove compartment since i rushed it and didn't pull anything out. where do you guys suggest I put the jack? the hole is screwable on so it should be easy.
