e53 base support system

Hi,

I purchased the pictured base support system for my e53 but am missing the bolt key (Part #6 in the diagram). The key code is H0. Does anyone have one or know where I can get one?

Thanks!

Your local BMW dealership's parts dept should have it (order it). Or...if you go back to that diagram...scroll down to item #6 and get the 11 digit BMW part nbr...then type BMW xx xx x xxx xxx" (where x=the part nbrs you found) into a google search box (or BING) and you should see some other vendors that sell that part.

More than likely you'll need to purchase it from another BMW dealership because they can order it specifically by the "code" that you gave. You may be able to find an aftermarket/online vendor that may be able to get it for you...but more than likely, they'll have to order it from BMW, too since the "key" has a specific code to match the bolts of the rack set you purchased.

Good luck.

EDIT: For example, I just looked up the 11 digit BMW part nbr for item #6 & ran the part nbr on my local BMW dealer's website and they have its MSRP as $11.73 & they sell it online for $8.80 (again, the "H0" code is required when ordering): BMW Parts - BMW Parts - Call (800) 734-0782 for New Genuine BMW Parts and Accessories - Save Money

I have a set of those bars but I hate them so I got a set of Rolla bars for the X. Would sell you the key, but I need it when I sell the rack.

The X looks much nicer.

If you really want one...I highly suggest that you call the 800 number that you see in the link in my previous post (M-F/7am-5pm...they're not open on the weekends). Have the 11 digit BMW part nbr & your key's code nbr handy...that will speed things along.

Speak to one of the parts counter guys (ask for Mike Trumbull) and perhaps he can explain (better) how you still may be able to order one. It is not "in stock" but they contact BMW NA with your "key code" and it is ordered that way. Perhaps the person you spoke with at your local BMW dealership wasn't familiar with the ordering process. I think it's similar to buying a key for your car...they show up a similar way in the part database...because they are not something the local dealership "stocks"...but must be ordered from BMW NA with the specific code...and then it is sent to that dealership.

Give it a try...nothing ventured nothing gained. Mike's a really nice/cool guy and may be able to help you find the proper key/tool to mount your racks. Plus the online price of $8.80 ain't all that bad either.
