Smoke like a siff

New guy with my second bwm 2001 X5. It has 157k on it overall perfect condition. The other day I was driving no problems, not overheating or anything. I go to pull away from the drive thru and look back and smoke is white pouring out my exhaust. Pull over shut it off and let her cool down to find oilish stuff in my tips. Has anyone heard of anything like this happening?

Sounds like too much oil in crankcase. typical if overfilled and it burns off. Not sure if same thing here. JMO. Cheers

Oil, but only if it needs it. Check the dipstick.
